We design and sell non-contact, optical profile measurement systems for gap, flush, radius, edge breaks, seals and more. Established in 1995, Third Dimension has a long track record of supplying non-contact optical measurement equipment and services to the largest names in aerospace, automotive and energy sectors worldwide. Our customers include Airbus, Lockheed Martin, GE, Rolls-Royce, Volvo and Samsung to name a few.

Applications Support Manager
I normally start the day by catching up on open discussions with our Far-Eastern and American customers, having a worldwide product distribution means supporting customers in various timezones.
Around 50% of the time at least one of our reputable engineers will be out working at a customer’s facility to support complex installations and technical training so it is important that I ensure they have remote assistance available to support such activities if needed. I tend to take on a small proportion of internal projects so a couple of hours will be spent working on tool configuration, product testing etc.
Alongside my usual duties, I also work on new product developments (top secret!) This is what I enjoy the most.
As a young and very driven Manager I appreciate the opportunities that Third Dimension offer to take on new responsibilities and challenge myself, with reassurance that there is always support from the 25+ year of experience in the building.

Our Vectro product is already proven in the field of robotics where we will continue to add to our portfolio of installations and expertise in automated quality inspection. There is a huge variety of activities within the operations group from internal product improvement, employee satisfaction and facilities management to customer focused training and installations, product build and testing and order fulfilment. I love this diversity and the wide scope of the operations group allows me to see the full life cycle of our products and customer journeys. The buzz from the team when we really engage with our customers to provide solutions to their quality aspirations is invaluable and very rewarding.
Chief Sales and Marketing Officer
Third Dimension is a leader in non-contact measurement tools and was the first company to industrialise a solution. Despite a first partnership with Volvo Cars, the Aircraft manufacturers became the early adopters of the technology. Now we deliver this reliable way of measurement within several verticals. Robotics is now showing significant opportunities thanks to Vectro; Third Dimension non-contact laser measurement solution which can be mounted on a robot, cobot, or fixed arm.
Three specialities of Third business teased my interest after my interviews: an international sales activity, highly technical product and humanistic spirit. After two years working for Third Dimension this is still true. We deal with key customers all over the world which brings interest, diversity and challenges. The metrology world is quite challenging and non-contact measurement mix laser vision, software analytics and complex applications. But what is an important driver for me is the human side of the business, and I think that we do our best to respect and live our values and make sure all employees enjoy being part of the team.
I am a Digital Marketing Apprentice- I support the sales and marketing team by supporting lead generation activity, increasing our input of marketing literature and providing customer insights.
Third Dimension operates within a niche market, which is something I had not experienced before and I wanted to understand how a business in such an industry was run. Upon visiting, I also found it to be a very friendly, interactive environment which I thought would be a great working atmosphere.
Nothing stays the same for too long- there are always new tasks and activities to work on such as exhibitions and campaigns and all of the staff are very supportive and friendly.

What do you find the most challenging about your job?
Some of the in-depth metrology concepts are hard to understand, but our more experienced members of staff are always happy to spend time explaining these.
As more products are used across the world, so does the ‘Third Dimension family’. I think our products will eventually be used in a more diverse range of industries and applications, giving us fresh, new challenges to face.
