As a Commercial Lead, I support the business from a commercial perspective. My role allows me to engage with our distributors all over the world to cover new business opportunities as well as providing new ideas for improvement. Leading customer projects together with our Sales Engineers to ensure we continue to provide first class service to our customers.
What do you find enjoyable about working in this industry?
Metrology is essential in so many industries and I enjoy discovering new markets where our products can be used. I find it very rewarding to be a part of a company that strives to achieve continuous technology improvement.

Head of Finance

What is your role/What do you do?
As Head of Finance at Third Dimension Software, I’m responsible for the strategic financial leadership of the business—overseeing budgeting, forecasting, financial planning, and reporting, while ensuring we remain compliant, efficient, and positioned for sustainable growth. I work closely with the CEO and Board to align financial strategy with business goals, helping to drive innovation and global expansion in the precision metrology sector.
What attracted you to Third Dimension?
What attracted me to Third Dimension was its clear commitment to innovation and quality. As a technology company with a strong engineering heritage, its precision measurement solutions are at the cutting edge of industrial metrology. I was excited by the opportunity to join a company with a global reach, a respected brand, and a real sense of purpose in solving complex problems for customers across aerospace, automotive, and energy sectors.
What makes you stay?
What makes me stay is the culture. Third Dimension is a place where collaboration, continuous improvement, and customer focus are more than just buzzwords—they’re embedded in everything we do. There’s a genuine passion here for excellence and innovation, and I’m proud to be part of a team that’s shaping the future of measurement technology while maintaining strong financial stewardship.

CEO

What do you think of the product range at Third Dimension?
Third Dimension is a pioneer in non-contact measurement solutions and was the first to industrialise such technology. Although our initial partnership was with Volvo Cars, it was the aerospace sector that first embraced our innovations. Today, our reliable measurement solutions serve multiple industries. With the introduction of Vectro—our non-contact laser measurement system that can be mounted on robots, cobots, or fixed arms—we’re seeing significant growth opportunities in the robotics sector.
What attracted you to your role at Third Dimension?
Three key aspects of Third Dimension stood out to me during the interview process: its international sales scope, its technically advanced products, and its people-first culture. After several years here, those same qualities still resonate. Working with major global customers keeps the job dynamic and challenging. The field of metrology is complex, combining laser vision, software analytics, and sophisticated applications. But what truly motivates me is the human side of the business—we genuinely strive to uphold our values and ensure that everyone enjoys being part of the team.

Application Engineer

What is your role/what do you do?
I offer technical expertise on the GapGun to customers from the first demo, during installation, and throughout the lifetime of the product. Since I am in direct contact with customers, I gather feedback and enable us to remain responsive to customer needs. I also work in collaboration with our R&D team to provide a customer-facing perspective on new features and products.
What attracted you to Third Dimension?
As a first graduate job, I was looking for a role where I could quickly grow and take on responsibility. Third Dimension stood out as a they are a SME with an international customer base. This signalled to me that they might place a higher degree of investment in each individual employee. This conjecture has proved to be true. Over the last year I have received in-depth training about how the GapGun works and am currently enrolled in a metrology training course to further my knowledge.
What makes you stay?
One of the main reasons I enjoy my job at Third Dimension is the working environment. I have enough freedom to take responsibility for my own tasks, while never being unsure as to the scope of my role. I have a direct line of communication with all colleagues, so collaboration comes naturally. As a bonus, I get to work with customers all over the world.

Application Engineer

What is your role/what do you do?
I provide customer facing support for our full range of software and hardware. Delivering both off and onsite training, I assist with the building and tailoring of our software defined tools to fit a wide range of measurement applications. The proximity to the end user also allows for swift reporting of feature and improvement requests, empowering our engineering team to iteratively perfect our catalogue.
What attracted you to Third Dimension?
Aside from the fact that I would jokingly be able to tell friends I work with laser guns? The role had great opportunities to get out into the world, see metrology in action and ultimately; meet some very interesting people. Also, I’ve specialised in support functions for a while, the Third Dimension product line (and its applications) were more interesting and varied than I had catered to previously, I knew I was going to be challenged and learn a lot.
What makes you stay?
The company size and culture are a great fit for me. I love being on first name terms with everyone in the building and I place a high value on being afforded the agency to get creative with solutions. I also enjoy the environment of constant development, the product line keeps evolving and improving, it feels good to be a part of that process.

Head of Sales & Support

What does your working life look like?
My working life at Third Dimension is extremely varied and keeps me on my toes. One day I may start at 5am to have a call with an overseas distributor in Australia, whereas other days I could spend time providing technical support to our customers and distributors in the Americas and Asia.
What do you enjoy most about your role / working for Third Dimension?
I really enjoy travelling and within this role I have the opportunity to travel to other countries fairly regularly which is rewarding. Working day-to-day with everyone in the Third Dimension team is also fantastic; it’s a very tight-knit group with a feeling of togetherness.

Head of Engineering

What is your role/what do you do?
As Head of Engineering at Third Dimension, I lead a cross-functional team of mechanical, electronics, and software specialists. Together, we focus on the ongoing development of our product, technology, and software service roadmap. We’re also involved in supporting current and previous-generation products, which provides valuable context for our work.
What do you think of the product range at Third Dimension?
Throughout most of my career before Third Dimension, I was a consumer of micron-precision metrology equipment. This gave me first-hand familiarity with the usual compromises involved with in-process measurements. That’s why the products we have at Third Dimension are truly exciting: we deliver metrology lab precision and repeatability directly to operators, technicians, and engineers. This empowers end-users to get valuable data directly from their process flow.
What do you enjoy most about your role / working for Third Dimension?
One aspect of engineering I’ve always loved is that it allows me to collaborate with others to solve complex problems. The team here at Third Dimension is fantastic, with a diverse range of skills and backgrounds, which makes everything far more enjoyable. I also really value the opportunity to engage with end-users, both existing and prospective. It’s rewarding to discuss their applications and most complicated requirements, and to help figure out how we can be part of the solution.

Marketing & Events Associate

What is your role/what do you do?
In my role as a Marketing Associate, I’m responsible for a variety of functions such as product marketing, orchestrating email campaigns, writing PR/blog content, organising events, designing assets, shooting & editing content, and managing the social media & website.
I essentially support the business in all its creative output, to target and attract specialist audiences to our brand and its products while liaising harmoniously between internal and external teams.
What does your working life look like?
No day is ever the same as the previous- as concluded from the description above! Sometimes I’m at my desk getting on with complex data entry tasks, some days are very communication heavy in which I’m collaborating with our distributors regarding content or assets, while other times I’m shooting content with the engineers to acquire compelling material for our social media. Occasionally I also attend trade shows, distributor events or visit customers which I find to be very valuable.
What makes you stay?
I appreciate the level of autonomy you’re granted from the get-go; both in creative freedom as well as the ability to independently manage your own desk. There is no micro-management, but a constructive work environment with open lines of communication across all departments. The company as a whole is very tight-knit, and it goes without saying that the team at TD are all a great laugh!

Head of Operations

What is your role / what do you do?
As Head of Operations, I hold responsibility for our product assembly, end to end supply chain, product quality together with ISO adherence across 9001 and 17025.
With the role being so wide ranging I have the luxury of working along side all Third staff across the multiple departments which allows me involvement in all aspects of our products lifecycle.
What do you find enjoyable about working in this industry?
It’s the varied elements and interactions of the role that are so very interesting. Woking in the metrology industry and knowing that our products are serving an essential quality requirement in the processes of our customer base is both demanding and rewarding at the same time.
What attracted you to your role at Third Dimension?
I came to Third following numerous years working in supply chain and production environments in larger organisations , but it was the ground up business development and the opportunity to work with such a genuinely unique product family that pushed me to join the business back 2018.
